What is a domain name?

Simply put, a domain name is the address that internet users type into a web browser to find your business online.

Domain names are used to translate IP addresses (192.168.180.001) to something that we can all understand and remember easily.

Generic top-level domains are three or more letters long. Most Generic top-level domains are available for use worldwide. The most popular ones of course are the .com, .net and .org.

Country specific domain names have only two letters; for instance .ca for Canadian domain names.
